Harry Potter: Book2, Ch.06 by TheGeekCanPaint Harry Potter: Book2, Ch.06 by TheGeekCanPaint
Gouache paints with coloured pencils on watercolour paper.

Much like Ch.4 of this book, this is a scene that has alot going on. And there's so much going on, I worry it muddles everything up and it's hard to make sence of it all.

That said, the scene in the book is describbed as "pandamonium", so at the very least, I pulled that off.

I had the urge to say: Peskipiksi Pesternomi then suddenly I remembered it made more sense to say: IMMOBULUS!

or as Ron would say at the moment: Bloody Hell....
but I would say to this... BLOODY BRILLIANT!

:onfire: Awesome :)

You got it perfect! Much of the fun in this piece is the details, especially the expressions.

LOL!! You sure captured the feeling of that scene brilliantly! I love all the details you put in, especially the pictures of Lockhart, and the different expressions on the students' faces (also, the pixie design is pretty cool). But I think the funniest part of all is Lockhart's pose — it's just spot-on. :D

Oh thank you so much! I was worried it was too jumbled and everything got lost in the chaos. It's nice to know the details are being caught :)

Well, the massive chaos is what makes it good! It's one of those pictures that you can look at for a long time, picking out all the details, but isn't a complete mess. I think it's because you layer your stuff — first there's the things in the foreground (Trio and pixies), then the stuff in the background (other students and Lockhart), then all the little things scattered around and connected to the big things. So instead of hitting the viewer with a huge jumble straightaway, you kind of suck the viewer into the pandemonium by drawing their eye backwards. Very artistic :)

Wow... I'm very touched by this very kind critique. You've picked up on the way I tried to lay this piece out (being so detailed) and you're making me feel better and better about it :)

You're too kind! Thank you so much!!!

My one goal with every drawing/painting of Lockhart, is for anytime you look at him you just think, "what an @$$". ;)

Thanks so much!

It took a while... partly because I was only able to work on it in small bits of time. Usually an illustration like this take about 40 hours of painting.
