30 x 20 Gouache paint with coloured pencil on watercolour paper.
Well, I’m closing in on finishing all the illustrations for “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”. I write this as I take a break from working on the re-do of the cover, then all I have left are some vignette drawings for the final chapter and one other little addition that I can do in an evening.
As for this painting itself... I’m pretty happy with it. I was a little disappointed when picking the exact moment I’d be illustrating, in order to show the most I wanted to show AND be a cool moment, I had to sacrifice painting the yellow eyes of the Basilisk. But, as I said, I’m happy with the rest. And the bloody sockets are pretty nifty in their own way.
My biggest trepidation with it will be when I try to formate it into the mock book. In “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone” I figured out how to do the fold out page, which will be the way I do Dumbledore’s Office for this book. But this one I plan to try and make it flip up instead of out. I’ll have to worry about that when I get to it.
When I do, I’ll be officially starting my “campaign” to officially get this stuff published. But first thing’s first.... I need to finish the book!
