*** This is technically a re-posting of this illustration. I plan to do so with all of my Potter art work building up (hopefully) to having some new stuff to share there after. So if you feel like you've seen this before - you probably have. On the upside, I'm sharing it at a larger resolution and without the DeviantArt watermark on it now **

The previous chapter had a handful of drawings I was less than proud of and in retrospect I see it as the drawings were rushed. There's a little bit of that happening in this chapter as well, but not as bad. I'd like to think I was steering myself back on track.

The drawing of Harry on the broom catching a flying key was the most cartoony I ever want to get with the series. Don't get me wrong, that's just a part of my style and it's one of the things I think makes my stuff work for the Potter series. But that drawing was pushing things. I also have some issues with the Devil's Snare drawing - not that it was too cartoony - but some of the proportions are just a little "off".

Now all that said, I was very happy with Hagrid (big surprise) snapping the pea realizing he shouldn't have said what he did to the kids. This is another drawing I'll go back to for reference when ever I'm drawing him. And I really enjoyed the mood of the final illustration of Harry going through the black flames. Oh and Neville - I really like the way he turned out as well. Some have given me a hard time about drawing him in the onesie, but...

Fun Fact: J.K.Rowling did a drawing of Neville wearing bunny pajamas. It was in the drawing of the kids from "The Midnight Duel" chapter. Originally Dean Thomas was going to be with and Neville was in pajamas like the others - in the final book, he needed to be in robes still because the reason he was with was because he'd forgotten the password to get in the Gryffindor common dorms. Anyway, in that original drawing, you didn't see his legs, but she covered Neville's pajama in bunnies. So I made a choice and took them to the next level, because it seemed only natural to me that they would be a onesie. And since I didn't get to draw him in them in chapter nine, it was a treat to do it in in his big moment from the first book as he stands up to his friends :)
